The Best Cheeseburger EverWritten by Rob Cranley Posted: 3/12/08
A couple of times each year my high school (Racine Park) swim coach and I hook up for a cheeseburger and a few beers. We talk about politics, our families and our jobs (we are both teachers). Regardless of what bar or tavern we end up at, one thing is for sure: I can't wait to get my hands on a greasy cheeseburger.
Ok, I have to admit there is a certain Pub & Grill that I thinks serves a great cheeseburger, but I am sure there are plenty in Racine. A lot of it has to do with the atmosphere. Its not that I particularly like all the smoke that gets in my clothes when eating dinner in a bar or tavern, but as long as I am treating myself to a high calorie and tasty burger and having a few beers I don't really worry about it. After all, I probably only visit a Racine bar once a month now that I am married.
The last time we went to a Racine bar to get a burger I was a bit saddened when after asking if we can get a few burgers the bartended glanced around the establishment and said, "I don't know, we are pretty busy right now. I can't guarantee what they will taste like". Knowing they would taste great no matter what I exclaimed, "Don't worry about it - we'll yell when we see them catch on fire". With that she smiled and I new we would get our tasty burgers!
Seems like every time I go to a Racine bar and grill I end up eating the best cheeseburger ever. Again, its probably the atmosphere and the attitude I adopt whenever I enter one of these fine establishments. I am immediately at ease knowing everyone is there to have a good time. If its been too long since you ate a late night not so healthy burger and fries with an old friend I highly recommend you give it a try!
